In 2009 I discovered and acquired the 30 hectare vineyard with its core of 1910 planted Malbec vines, and immediately focused its management to produce premium grapes. We had the first harvest in 2010, the year of the centenary of the Malbec vines. From that time on up to the present, both winemaker Pepe Galante and myself have kept the focus on ultra premium wines and slightly increased the wine portfolio to four wines.
Spielmann Estates is my dream to produce unique red wines that reflect the full potential of the terroir and the old vines. My venture is focused on producing small quantities of ultra premium, single vineyard wines based on 4 differentiating factors:

  1. a unique vineyard on Calle Cobos in Perdriel, Mendoza;
  2. old Malbec vines planted on their rootstock in 1910 that produce few bunches of concentrated berries;
  3. a focus on low yields, with a small quantity of grapes per plant;
  4. micro-vinification, a boutique winemaking process for optimal extraction of color, aroma and flavor from the grapes.
